Mantid: Melicertus religiosa

At long last! The mantid has a name: Melicertus religiosa. I can't take credit however, My friend KT who actually speaks latin named it for me. :) Melicertus is the genus of "king prawns," and religiosa is pretty self-explanatory. Here he is in all his glory! (And it's specifically a he because females don't have external wings.)

The god of mischief demanded a blood sacrifice... I stabbed my finger with an errant piece of wire from the armature and bled on my sculpt a little bit... so now I can say that I have poured sweat and blood into this piece. And I've spent a fair amount of time working on it too. :) 

Horns! Now he's starting to look like Loki.
